My pack of colourful, fresh, organic vegetables arrived from my vegetable vendor & amongst the neatly packed lot was a huge bunch of curry leaves- branches, thorns et all, loosely wrapped in an old vernacular newspaper. I frowned looking at it….it stood poorly amongst the neatly packaged produce. I began extrapolating…must be having a curry leaf tree in his backyard, must have come free or cheap to him, maybe it is the wild variety, couldnt be very potent….and then i began to laugh at myself! Seriously, one does not even spare the basic, flavourful curry leaves if not packaged right!! All I wanted was a neatly packaged, easy to use bunch of leaves which appear to deliver well. The next thought that struck me was- IF we do not even spare the performance of curry leaves based on how it comes packaged to us, then what about us humans??
We need to package ourselves for our desired role & goal, or the occassion to allow people to atleast extrapolate well about our potential. I wont call it fake, because packaging matters- the loose curry leaves may have been more fresh, more flavourful but because they were not packaged to my expectation, I may not have picked them off the shelf!! The curry leaves could have only proved better if i had SELECTED them and taken them home.
Similarly, many of us do not get to perform and exhibit our capability because we did not get chosen….and we do not get chosen because we do not package ourselves right as per the calling of a job, promotion or an interview.
Have you packaged yourself well for your next role??
Renu ma’am I am grateful to have received so many useful tips from you over a period of time. I now ‘package’ myself as per your advice. The result…many are envious! Many thanks ma’am 😊👍
